This Thanksgiving, Let's Give Back to Our Community

Giving Back This Thanksgiving ❤️

Thanksgiving is a time to slow down, appreciate what we have, and think about how we can help others in our community.

This year, I’ve teamed up with The Sandwich Years and The Salvation Army for a Thanksgiving Food Drive to help support local families in our community.

The need is greater than many of us realize. One in four households in Durham Region is experiencing food insecurity, and there were more than 300,000 visits to food banks across Durham in the past year.

We’ve already delivered food drive bags throughout our local neighbourhoods. If you received one, simply fill it with some non-perishable food items and scan the QR code when you’re ready for us to come back and pick it up right from your porch.

If you didn’t receive a bag but would like to participate, just reach out to me and I’ll be happy to help.

There’s no pressure to fill the whole bag. A few extra items from your grocery cart can help — pasta, canned vegetables, soup, cereal, pasta sauce or other non-perishable staples.

We know we can’t solve food insecurity on our own, but we can each do a little.

We’re simply doing what we can to support our neighbours and give back to the community we’re proud to call home.

Thank you to everyone who participates, donates, or helps spread the word. It truly does take a community.

Wishing you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving. ❤️
